Mum was fostered at the age of 3 and then adopted in 1950 along with her brother Derek. Her sister Pam was also adopted a few years later by Billy and Rebecca Shaw. She lived in Nottingham throughout her childhood and went to School there. She took a secretarial course after leaving school and soon got a job. Mum was also a member of the choir and the youth club at her local church. In 1966 she met Dad and they married in September 1967. They continued to live in Nottingham for another 4 years. Dad started a new job in 1971 which saw them move to Boston, Lincolnshire where my sister Alison and I were born. We then all moved to Letchworth, Hertfordshire at the end of 1976. After bringing us up for some years, Mum got a job at Letchworth Roofing company where she worked for over 20 years before her retirement in 2003. During retirement Mum & Dad had some lovely holidays and cruises, including going to the Holy land. They also made several visits to see Alison and her family in Philadelpia, USA. About this time she was Steward at her local church for a few years where early signs of her condition were starting to show. Her illness Primary Lateral Sclerosis, a type of Motor Neurone Disease was finally diagnosed in April 2007. Mum passed away in her own home on 20th May 2010.
